Matt Burbank
Director, Originations
Matt serves as a Director and the Head of Southeast Originations for Obra Real Estate. He brings over 20 years of commercial real estate experience spanning the full transaction lifecycle. Throughout his career, he has led the origination, underwriting and management of structured debt and equity investments across a broad range of property types and markets. He spent 19 years at Wells Fargo and predecessor banks, most recently as Executive Director in the Real Estate Merchant Banking group, where he focused on direct and fund investments in value-add opportunities nationwide. Prior to joining Obra in 2026, he was a partner and senior originator for a private debt fund, where he sourced and structured bridge loans. Matt holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
